Pardon Me

What do these things have in common?

Stars and Stripes
Biscuits and Gravy
Marshmallow and Yam
Flyer and Fryer
Katie and Zack
Pecan and Pumpkin
May and Flower
Courage and Carolina
Apple and Cider

Give up?  They're the names of turkeys who've been pardoned by Presidents of the US in the days before Thanksgiving.  The tradition was started by George H. W. Bush in 1989 and each Commander-in-Chief since then has played along.  It's goofy.  It's silly.  It's oh so American.

Happy Thanksgiving.

  1. Hehe funny song!

I didn't realize that the official turkey pardon tradition only dates back to 1989. I guess the previous presidents were too hungry to think of it!
