You Had The World Inside Your Hand

Today my father would have been 67 years old.  This is not about him.  There are some things that are too deep, too complicated and too painful to articulate for me and this is one of them.  One thing, though.  If someone you know is grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide be very gentle.  Don't tell them to get over it, don't ask them when they think they'll be back to normal and for the love of all things holy do NOT suggest that their loved one is going to hell.  If you have any questions about how to help a friend who is bereaved in this way The Alliance of Hope for Suicide Survivors is an invaluable resource.

My dad loved the Doors so today, wherever he is, I hope he's in a roadhouse listening to Jim Morrison.

IMO it would be good if no one ever told anyone else that she or someone she loves is going to hell. Since we don't know, after all.
