Because It's The New

There is nothing that I don't love about this picture that showed up on my Facebook feed yesterday.  I love the model, I love the dress, I love the bag, I love the message and if there were shoes involved (you never can tell with Iggy) I'm sure I would have loved them especially.

When I saw it I kind of wondered what the writers over at GoFugYourself might think of this outfit but if I know them at all (and I've been reading them for years) I'm certain they'd give him a "Well played!"

GoFugYourself  is one of my very favorite places on the web.  These are concerned fashionistas, as in concerned about Tilda Swinton because she showed up at the SAG awards in something conservative and they were forced to ask where her "Bowie-esque bad-assery" has gone.  And RA fans worry about sounding obsessed?  Jessica has written about her college shrine to Ralph Fiennes (a work so glorious that on meeting an new person ten years after college the new person said, "Are you the Jessica who had the shrine to Ralph Fiennes?") a couple of times and I totally agree with her about him in Quiz Show (Restrospectfug here).  They're generally snarky without being mean and if they are mean you were thinking it, too.  And Heather wrote the single funniest line ever committed to the internet, which you can find here in context.  She wrote it eight years ago and I still giggle madly when I read it.

What I love most about them, though, is their championing of odd-balls who are truly deeply odd and not just odd for the sake of attention at this moment.  Their adoration of Tilda Swinton's "delicious wacktacularity" is only exceeded by their devotion to Bjork, who they consider an international treasure.  Where else online can you enter "Bjork + Muppet" into the search engine and actually get a response that's not along the lines of "Are you running a fever?," let alone a post as loving as this one?

Anyway, yeah, I think they'd love what Iggy did up there.  I know I do.  Well played, Fuggers and Stooges alike.

  3. You are evil, in a good sort of way! I'm trying to cut back on time spent browsing the internet, and you come up with brilliant sites like these to suck me back in. Well-played!
