I Got The Germiest Hangover

Last night was Trick-or-Treat Night in my town and we handed out over 400 pieces of candy.  I counted ten vampires, eight ladybugs, a bunch of cowboys and a rubber duck, among others.  My own veterinarian, zombie doctor and water fairy are still sleeping this morning.  There was one costume that I didn't get until the kid put her shades on:  she was Agent J, MIB.  Naturally Men In Black made me think about The X-Files and after Spotnitz's very political answer about the killing of John Porter I needed to take a second to remember all the things I've loved about his writing in the past.  Which brings me to Weird Al.

Occasionally Weird Al does what he calls a "genre parody" which means that he doesn't parody a specific song but a style of music.  "Dare To Be Stupid" is a genre parody of Devo and other new wave bands.  Weird Al's 1999 album Running With Scissors has five, including a parody of NineInchNails called "Germs."  Fellow XPhile kingskand made a fab vid a couple of years ago about all the gross, creepy things Mulder and Scully had to contend with over the years using that song and, c'mon, Weird Al + NineInchNails + Mulder and Scully = are you kidding?  I'm all over it and it's definitely put me in a better frame of mind today so give it a click.  Just imagine Spotnitz covered in bees, you'll be fine.

  1. Hi Funky,
Giggles! I was too squeamish and didn't get past 45 seconds. But I love Weird Al's parodies.
I hope you feel better soon.
    Love and Hugs! Grati
