Rock On, Or: A Happy Goodbye

As I was falling asleep last night I was writing today's post in my head and thinking about all of those things that I really wanted to say.  There were two versions:  one loony post involving The Ramones and one sincere post that ended with "Scratch and Dent Dreams" by Eric Darby, one of my favorite slam poets.  When I woke up it was a total jumble and I caught myself humming "Sheena is/peanut butter."  Kind of gets to the heart of where my head is these days.

And here's where.  Those scratch and dent dreams Eric Darby talks about?  I just had one of mine from about a thousand years ago handed back to me with a sign that says "Tomorrow is now."  I don't want to talk about it because, using the time-honored 3rd grade scientific method, I don't want to jinx it.  This is something I've been holding my breath waiting for and I need to devote as much of me as I can to it for the next few months.  For a little while I'll be dimming the lights here.  You're still welcome to stop by whenever you want, there just isn't going to be anything new to see.  Unless, of course, something monumentally stupid happens and you know I won't be able to resist commenting.

Anyway, thanks to all of you who've commented, emailed me, read quietly and either laughed or muttered under your breath about "these kids today."  It's been fun and it will be again soonish.  If you're unfamiliar with Eric Darby, you can check him out at his website and I'm going to spin "Scratch and Dent Dreams" one more time.

That'd be a good place to end this, right?  Of course it would.  And of course I'm not.  My very first post was about drummers and featured my beloved Marky Ramone so this one should, too, right?  Seems that way to me.  Anyway, no actual blowing up the joint while I'm gone and...HIT IT MARKY!

  4. I'll miss you too -- but if the blog has served its purpose for the present, your decision makes sense. Do something you love, even if it's hard; life is too short for everything else. I'll pray for an episode return, of course.
