Ohhhh He's A Lumberjack And He's Ok...

If you're a Richard Armitage fan you've undoubtedly seen the new images that hit the fandom this morning and I would link them if I could but @#&* THIS PHONE AND -- wait, where was I? Images. Richard Armitage in flannel. Flannel? I think a couple of things about this, as you can imagine, so in rough order my thoughts from this morning:

1. The longer hair makes these pretty recent. Past couple of weeks maybe?

2. Whatever happened with the Dwarves In Red Flannel photo project? The darling Graham McTavish sent one along and then I lost track of it. Any updates?

3. My grandfather was fashion forward and never knew it. If Vitalis makes a comeback I might die laughing.

4. How much do designers want for flannel shirts? Because when Seattle rockers were wearing them in the 90s they got them at Value Village and probably paid $1 for five of them on sale days. Macklemore poppin' tags is just carrying on a glorious tradition.

Okay, so that's what I'm thinking. What do you think?

  1. According to Getty Images they were taken on October 4th 2013 on "self assignment" I´m not sure what that means. I don´t like the clothes, I prefer something more classic

    1. I like the clothes just fine and he certainly wears them well and I think he looks a lot more comfortable in his own skin than we've seen recently. I just think designer flannel is hysterical.

  2. I see your point about designer flannel, but I think the thrust of the fashion statement is plaid, not flannel.

    1. You may be right. I took a peek at the rest of the pictures and I have to say the Nehru jacket is throwing me a little bit. Black Watch tartan, a traditionally military fabric, but in the cut of a coat most closely associated with hippies and the peace movement? It's like a string of lovebeads made out of bullet casings.

  3. I liked the flannel shirt but it was a size too small IMO. I thought the tartan coat was just strange as heck, maybe because no male human of my acquaintance would ever put something like that on. I thought most of the poses were uninteresting and that only one or two photos actually grasped the Armitage "spark." The rest looked posed. These and the Equire photos both looked like clothes catalog for me. I like him marginally better in LL Bean than in Gucci, is my reaction to the last two shoots.

  4. These are NY WhateverbecauseI'mbeinglazy Power Issue shots, right? I'm really really curious to read the article which I guess is the point.

  5. That was my take (see remarks on marketing today). I agree, the main point to me is the article. Though I wonder if he got enough of his energy on to make himself look like a mover and shaker ... not his best thing.
