SpReAd The Love Book Challenge: First Post!

Hey, all. As you know we're doing a Children's Book Challenge as part of SpReAd The Love and this morning we have our first post by one of my favorite writers who's emerged from the Armitage fandom, Trudy Brasure. Trudy is the author of two gorgeous North and South universe novels, A Heart for Milton and In Consequence and this morning she's hosted by blogger and author Gratiana Lovelace at her blog Something About Love (A), where she writes about Bedtime for Frances. Trudy and I must be around the same age because I remember that book, too, from when I was a kid. And in terms of kindnesses, the post is one kindness, the hosting is one and the donation of the book is one so this post generates $3USD from the pocket of our anonymous co-conspirator toward the charities supported by Richard Armitage through JustGiving.

If you'd like to participate in this challenge there's definitely still time. Just choose a book from your childhood that really stuck with you (or one you've read as an adult that you love) and donate a copy to a school, a library, a literacy program, a children's hospital, Ronald McDonald House (what a great idea, Prue!), a family crisis shelter, or to a young friend or family member and let us know. You can email me at funkybluedelphinium at gmail dot com with the subject line DR SEUSS and we'll count it. You don't have to write about it if you're shy, just let us know about the donation. If you'd like to write a post but don't have a blog let us know and we'll hook you up with someone who's offered to host, including FedoraLady, Obscura, Perry, Prue Batten, Servetus, Snicker'sMom, Zan and right here at the dandelion patch. I'll be linking to all of the posts on a separate page and keeping a running list of books donated so please do let us know. The big target date is March 2, Dr. Seuss's 110th birthday, but we're flexible and we'll count all posts and donations from now through March 7 and a little after.

So...if you want some great Sunday morning reading you can start with Trudy's post at Gratiana's and go from there. Whatever you're doing have a great day!

  1. Aww, thanks for the commentary on my writing. Yes, I grew up in the 70s and 80's. Great time to be a kid, no computer/device distractions. :)
