Quivering, Snarling White Hot Ball Of Canine Terror

There are some movies that I just can't wait for coming up soon and one is starring...oh, what's his name?  It's on the tip of my tongue...wait, wait...Ronnie something...Abercrombie?  Wait, that's the dog in one of the clips below.  Tim Burton's remake of Frankenweenie is being released October 5th and watching the preview I was struck by the resemblances of Victor and Sparky to two other Burton boy and dog characters.

Burton directed a short film called Victor in 1982, two years before he did the original live action Frankenweenie, about a seven-year-old whose hero is Vincent Price.  As heroes go that's a good one, right?  Well, maybe Ambercrombie isn't sold on it.

Sparky owes a lot to another 80s Burton animated short, Family Dog.  I loooooove this.  It first appeared on Steven Speilberg's Amazing Stories in 1987. you think Richard Armitage should do a Burton film?  Johnny Depp still has the leads locked up, but what kind of character do you think Armitage could play for him?  Sir Guy of Gisborne was pretty goofy gothy so we know he can pull it off.  Comments are open.  Have a great day!

  1. Hi Funky,
Well, RA's voice could go into even deeper regions than it does now and play a dastardly villain in one of the non human films Burton does.

For "human" films, we can only hope that Richard Armitage is destined for lead character status from now on.

    Cheers! Grati

    1. That's a good point, Grati...I can only imagine what kind of voice work is going to open up for him after Throin.
