I am BEYOND thrilled that Hank is safe in the hands of an actor of Hiddleston's talent and that Hiddleston won't have to wear a wig or dye his hair this time around. A little Brylcreem, maybe, under a Stetson. Thrilled, I tell you. I'm also thrilled that this casting news has given me a relevant excuse to do a mash up. Ready?
Williams wrote and recorded the gospel song "I Saw the Light" in 1948 and it's become a standard. The late Jessy Dixon takes the lead in a version that appeared in the Gaither Homecoming series.
Awake yet? Johnny Cash covered it more than once on The Johnny Cash Show in the 60s.
It's in the middle of a country gospel medley with Vince Gill, Charley Pride, Allison Krauss and, uh, most of the Grand Ole Opry here.
But of course the original is still the one I love the most.
Okay, I think I'm fully awake now. Y'all, uh, yinz have a great day!
That was my reaction when I read te story last night! Tom will do an excellent job. :) Wonder if he will use his amazing gift of mimicry to voice Mr. W? This will be on my must see list! ---Zan
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for this one and I'm not even a Hiddlestoner. :)
DeleteI like the song :)
ReplyDeleteI normally mix the lyrics up with "I'll Fly Away," honestly, but I do like it a lot.
DeleteLove this song! But I am amazed that a British actor would be asked to portray such an iconic American figure. I suppose he has the looks and the talent but it seems like a stretch to me.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to see what he does with it and I can't wait for the soundtrack.
