Kilty Goodness For A Friday

Outlander has been renewed for a second season, though whether that means more Graham McTavish buckling his swash hasn't been specified. Okay, full disclosure: I never finished reading Outlander. Someone asked me on Facebook whether it was appropriate for teens and, honestly, I don't know. I'm easily distracted and at the time I was also reading two other things and got so caught up in them that when it was time to return it to the library I had only gotten to about chapter four, I think. It's been out every time I've been back since then so I'll get to it but it might take a while. If you've read it, what did you think of it?

Of course if we're talking about Outlander we're talking about guys in kilts doing really fierce things and while that, regrettably, has NOT included flaming bagpipes as yet I'm certain that's just an oversight. Have a great Friday!

  1. Really like bagpipes but have been played at too many policeman's funerals to enjoy them much any more. Thanks for the post.

    1. You're welcome. :) I just can't resist "Thunderstruck" covers, apparently.

  2. I know many of my friends will disagree, but I thought the book poorly written and a waste of time. There is some sex and violence, but nothing most 16-year-olds won't have read about or seen before.

    Loved the clip of "Thunderstruck."

    1. Have you been able to watch any of the series yet? I won't until it makes it to Amazon or Netflix because we don't have cable but I've heard nothing but good things about it. The book I've heard mixed things about so thank you for chiming in here. :)

  4. Outlander has been my favorite book for years. historical setting, a bit of sex and romance, but not too ridiculous (romance novel females generally drive me crazy). I can respect most of the complaints I've heard about it through the years, but that doesn't lessen my enjoyment of it :) I'm not sure how I feel about the tv series yet, too many character changes. I need to view it with fresh eyes and not compare it to what I already know. I really like the male lead though, and Graham McTavish too!

    1. That can be so difficult, especially with a book you love. I do remember that I liked that Claire was level-headed. And Graham McT makes everything a little better in my estimation. ;) Thanks for commenting!
