A Month of Sundays: Joy Returned to Mudville, Thursday April 5th

Can you hear that?  Be really really quiet and listen -- can you hear it?  That's the sound of a baseball hitting a glove.  Can you smell the leather and the freshly mown grass and the anticipation?  It's Opening Day.  *Sigh* 

When I was a kid the first day of summer vacation held promise and magic but as an adult it's the first day of baseball season.  I'm not certain why it should be that hearing the crack of the bat gives me a shiver of delight but it does in a way that nothing else does.  My hometown minor league team is throwing out the first pitch in a couple of hours.  *Sigh*
